I used to think the same way as you about the inconvenience of a
slider, and resisted having those types of phone for a long time.
After relenting and buying an N95 earlier in the year I find its
worked out much better than I expected. With my old "candy bar" type
phones, I always kept the keypad locked to prevent accidental calling.
When I needed to make a call I'd have to use the "Unlock *" function
to unlock it. Now, all I need to do is pull down the slider, which I
find much quicker and easier than having to unlock the keypad. Close
the slider and it locks itself again.
