I know- I've looked at the 800 a couple of times, but I think after years
of using WinMo devices, I'm not ready to buy into yet another "not quite a
real PC" format, particularly when the Eee PC and Intel's similar flash-
based mini-laptops running "real" Windows are within reach.
The nice thing about Gizmo, is they adhere to the SIP VoIP standard. The
nice thing about SIP is that one app can handle SIP, and you can simply
change profiles to select different accounts/services.
I don't need to run Gizmo software on my phone- I just need to drop their
server address, and my username and password into the SIP client already
built-in to the WM6 OS and anytime I fire up WiFi, I'm ready to receive
VoIP calls with the phone's regular phone app, so all of my Outlook
contacts etc. are already available. So whether you call my cell or my
VoIP number, my phone rings the same ringtone in the same phone app with
the same UI. For outgoing calls I tap the screen to toggle between VoIP
and cellular.
