mobile PhoneTools trouble

Well, I did uninstall the old version of MPT and installed the version
that Motorola sent me the link to. It is version 4.5.6a by Avanquest
Software 8/17/2007. Still the same result as with the CD version that
came with the cellphone. As soon as I plug the USB cable into the
phone, I get the above mentioned error message about the USB Device
Not Recognized. I called T-Mobile but they say they are unable to help
since it is not a T-Mobile phone. As for the battery, the place that I
got it from is sending a new battery. That is no longer a concern. But
I am completely perplexed by the computer not recognizing the
cellphone. Regardless of which USB port I use, I still get the same
error message. Any other suggestions???
