When MPT starts & searches for an update, it does not automatically
upgrade to the latest version, only to new one after your current version.
If your current version is a few upgrades old, you will need to update
several times.
My version is 4.5.6a 8/16/07 & it will work with the RAZR V3xx.

If all else fails try the driver tool to install a current "modem" driver
