Is it normal for the Roaming signal to show on my RAZR V3a when I'm in
a strong Alltel area outside my home area code? My coverage area is
the same as for National Freedom, which includes most of the US. Yet
I noticed the Roaming signal blinking when I visited a friend this
past week end who lives in the same state, but in a different area
code (he also has Alltel).

And if I'm always roaming when I'm outside my own area code, how would
I know whether my phone had locked onto an Alltel signal that would be
included in my minutes or that of another cell company that would add
59¢ per minute?
