Congratulations to all Alltel and Verizon subscribers. Combining the two
top-rated wireless carriers will benefit customers from both carriers.
Until the acquisition is complete (if it passes regulatory approval),
and alt.cellular.alltel is no longer needed, please post relevant
threads to both groups.

Another great feature of the Nokia N800 internet tablet over a SELLphone
smartphone like iPhone or Voyager is I'm not locked down to the shitheads
at ATT or Verizon. I can simply change the SELLphone separately....or
just do away with it entirely and operate on wifi, losing nothing buy car
mobility in today's wifi saturated environment.
What do I lose? KSEY's country music riding down the road. I'll just go
back to my millions of MP3 files and miss all the commercials.
Sellphone internet, with its 500ms latency, is barely tolerable when
compared to wifi, especially using rdesktop to the XP boxes at home.
Now "semi-retired", I'll probably move my phone calls over to my Skype
In/Out Unlimited account, saving $76 x 12 = $912 per year in the process.
I can get my messages from Skype's voicemail when I get to a wifi point,
which will make my life simpler, anyways, by being able to choose when I
want to call back anyone...not be tied to live contact 24/7 which isn't
really necessary any more.
Bye Bye, Alltel. I'll really miss your great service at a fair price
with great customer service. The shitheads at Verizon will quickly
eliminate all you've built. American sellphone service took a hit,
today.

How exactly, will it benefit them? Certainly not via economies of scale-
Alltel pales in size next to Verizon.
Certainly not competitively, Alltel areas simply lose another competitor.

Will you be enforcing this by crossposting your replies to threads in
either group to both groups singlehandedly this time like you did with the
Cingular and ATTWS groups, or was that just a special treatment reserved
for annoying John Navas?

A little time spent comparing coverage maps for both carriers shows some holes
in Verizon that would be filled by acquiring Alltel. For example, Verizon has
spotty coverage in southeastern Virginia (Tidewater area). Alltel has very good
coverage there. West Coast coverage, although still far from solid, will be
improved substantially once the two are combined.
