Unless you're in the cellular business, this has a lot to do with cellular
users as an excellent way to save money and communicate, the point of
cellular in the first place.

Of course, it has nothing to do with the cellular BUSINESS, if that's the
business you're in....and, obviously, I'm not.

Merely pointing out alternatives isn't, yet, a crime.

And what does this have to do with cellular?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Quit spamming the newsgroups, Larry!

I'm very interested in related, but technically off-topic posts, provided
they're informative. Anyone interested in cellular service should be
interested in emerging Wi-Fi technologies and how they may affect VZW (or
any other) cell service.

I would not be quite as effervescent about these technologies as Larry is,
at least not now, but his posts are something to think about.

Bullshit. It's off-topic, and you know it.

No one said it's a crime...

For what it's worth, I don't think all of Larry's Skype posts are spam.

The ones where he simply starts new threads hawking services and phones
are, without question, off-topic and inappropriate.

Thank you, Angelo. Those trying to stop any postings about VoIP, that
may interest other cellphone users, must have either some vested interest
in the cellular phone business, which is threatened by VoIP services like
Skype....or are some kind of control freaks.

What they need to do is to NOT read any posts about other technologies in
this OPEN forum of Usenet....or go to the company's controlled web forums
to read only the good stuff the company wants posted.

I sure hope the companies can never tell us what can be posted here.
That would be a shame, indeed.....for everyone.

A simple killfile looking for "Skype" and "VoIP" in the subject headers
will save them from having to even see the headers of these posts. They
know that, but it doesn't help them in their "control freak" mode....(c;

Ha! So far, it's COST me about $800...in PDAs, Skype PHones, new
laptop....but it's just an excuse...(c;

I'm but a simple, interested Skype USER who thinks the whole idea is just
grand....especially the part about bypassing the goddamned cellphone ripoff
bastards and their contracts and funny business.

There, now you know my motive...(c;

Or we've seen other newsgroups get taken over by spammers to the point that
they're unusable. Saw it with cle.* many years ago, have seen it time and
again with news.admin.net-abuse.email... just to name a few.

Sounds like "Just hit delete." I've heard a lot of email spammers sing that
tune.

Thing is, my opinion of most of your Skype posts is no different from
my opinion of someone going into the Sprint or Cingular newsgroups and
starting to post similar crap about Verizon. I wouldn't condone that, either.

Anyhow, Larry, let me turn the tables: How much is Skype paying you? Do you
get some sort of referral fee? I know you love to claim I'm on Verizon's
payroll. How about you?

no steven, it is not off-topic at all. it is quite relevant.

larry is easy enough to attack and put down if that is your intent.
this isn't the place to do it.
