The u520 doesn't support several of the Bluetooth profiles that I want
to use. Specifically, it doesn't support the File Transfer or Object
Push (OBEX) profiles. Those are the profiles that could be used to
transfer contact information (say from a Palm), MP3s, or to/from the
device.
Samsung/Alltel claim that it supports the headset and A2DP (stereo
audio) profiles, but I don't have a headset or headphones to test that
out. I would bet that it works well if that's what you use Bluetooth
for, but can't confirm that from real-world experience.
For comparison, the Nokia 6255i and 2865i, Moto RAZR v3m and KRZR, all
support those profiles (though the RAZR won't let you keep/save
transferred mp3s). The Alltel version of the Palm Treo 650
inexplicably doesn't support file transfer, but it does support OBEX.
The Kyocera Strobe K612B also supports OBEX, but not file transfer.
The Samsung u420 doesn't support either file transfer or OBEX.
Or, at least that's what my experience with playing with these
assorted devices in stores and real-life tells me.
Could any of you u520 owners let me know whether it has an external
antenna jack? It looks like it has a small one in some of the
pictures... If so any idea what type of external antenna plug it uses?
Gust go one!
The only thing I don't like at this point is the front display goes black
after a few seconds. My old phone would still show the time/date, etc.
Maybe there is a setting which will allow this, but I have not been able to
find it.

If you hit the volume up/down button, it'll turn on the screen for a
few seconds.

I don't know. I returned mine so I can't look into the options.
