Default Bluetooth Audio Switching Working

Hi,
I have been trying to get some help with this problem now for several months
and am not getting a response from Motorola, Dell, or Microsoft.

I have a Motorola HT820 Stereo Bluetooth Headset that I am trying to get
working with a Dell XPS M1210 running Vista Ultimate. Under the Hardware
Tab on the Bluetooth Devices window there are 2 devices listed. One is a
Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator and the other is called Dell Truemobile 355
Bluetooth + EDR. I cannot determine if the Bluetooth Stack is Microsoft or
Widcomm.

The headset seems to pair OK with the XPS. It shows up in the Bluetooth
Devices under audio devices. It automatically connects and disconnects as
it should, changing the status in Bluetooth Devices. When I mouse over the
speaker icon in the system tray, it shows the Bluetooth Headset when they
are connected and the built in speaker when the headset is not connected.
The speaker icon also displays the mute X on the speaker icon when the
headset is connected, however the XPS speakers do not actually mute and the
sound does not come over the headset.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can correct this problem?
Thanks
Keith

I don't automatically get a mute x on the speakers when I connect my
headset, but it does become the default Windows device (start-control
panel-sounds and audio devices). Default sounds come out of whichever
device is selected as the default, but the other doesn't need to be muted.

Aside from the Windows default, programs like Skype allow audio selection
of Bluetooth audio for voice, leaving ringing on the speakers.

Also, you need to "answer" the headset. I press and hold the button to
turn the headset on. I get a popup from Windows noting that my Bluetooth
device is connected to the Audio Gateway. At this point, I can select the
device, but no sound comes out. I press again, and the Bluetooth icon on
my laptop starts to blink about 3 times per second. Now, when selected,
sound works through the headset.
