Default Need help with bluetooth cell phone compatibility

Hi,
I have a Dual xdvd8285 mobile DVD player. It has built in Bluetooth and my
Motorola E385 cell phone is able to pair up, make and receive phone calls.
It won't do some of the other functions though, such as caller id, audio
transfer, or contacts.

Dual provided a list of compatible cell phones and the functions that they
are compatible with. Unfortunately the phones on this list are all
discontinued. I have contacted them for a newer list but one is not
available.

Is there some spec from the old phones I can get to assure I will be able
to use all the functions with a new phone? The list doesn't say anything
about a certain Bluetooth standard of specification but it is obvious that
some phones are more Bluetooth "friendly"

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff, I think what's MORE important is which CARRIER you are using.
Verizon DISABLES most all bluetooth functionality beyond the handsfree
headset to prevent you from using it.

I am the proud owner of a new Nokia N800 Linux internet tablet, a
beautiful product of open source thinking. It connects directly to wifi
or bluetooth for its internet access and is NOT a cellphone company
controlled device with its backdoor control.

I'm an Alltel customer with E815 EVDO data access and the N800 pairs
right up with the Alltel E815 as DUN, FTP, etc. when wifi isn't
available. That wouldn't happen on a Verizon Sellphone all crippled up
by Verizon.

New version of Linux for the N800 (and new N810) internet tablets:

There's a comical statement that says the 2008 OS has
"Command prompt for more adventurous users"......(c;
The Linux hackers have a utility for access on OS 2007...
