"The architects of the merger that united France's Alcatel and
America's Lucent Technologies said they would step down as the French-
American company on Tuesday reported a widening loss - its sixth
straight quarter of red ink.
Chairman Serge Tchuruk will depart in October and Chief Executive
Patricia Russo, whose departure has been rumored for months, will
leave after a new CEO is hired.
"It is now time that the company acquires a personality of its own,
independent from its two predecessors. The board must also evolve and
the chairman should give the first example, which I have decided to
do," Tchuruk said

Henry Schacht, Lucent's former CEO."
