Default Any ATT cell phone users here?

I currently have an unlocked GSM Nokia phone being used
on another carrier OTHER than ATT

Thinking of going to ATT tho so can I use THIS phone
with the ATT system thereby avoiding the contract
commitment?

You can use it on their network if it is dual-band (850/1900).

I don't believe they will still set up postpaid service without a
contract, even if you provide your own handset.

Really?! I thought if I already owned my own phone I
could get service on month to month basis without a
contact!

Cingular used to offer this, but AFAIK they did away with this even before
the AT&T takeover.

As a workaround, get a new phone, sell it, and keep the money in a bank
account for the possible event that you'll need to cancel later.
