Default Suddenly cannot sync phone to Outlook

I have never had a problem syncing my Outlook diary to my Nokia 6500
Classic, but suddenly today it wouldn't work - when I launch PC Sync from
PC Suite the message reads 'not connected' and all items in the window are
greyed out except 'help' and 'select phone' (clicking on 'select phone'
has no effect).

Other functions of PC Suite work fine - I can read text messages, transfer
files etc. - so the problem is clearly not with the Bluetooth connection.
I have also downloaded the latest version of PC Suite, which didn't help.

All advice gratefully received.

Ian

(running Windows XP Home SP2; Nokia 6500 classic with latest software; PC
Suite version 6.86.9.0; connecting via Bluetooth)

Yup.

I use that now and again, but don't have it running in the background. All
I have running is Zone Alarm, Spy Sweeper and AVG.

I cannot be sure that ccleaner is the culprit since I also use ncleaner
but everytime when I ran a full clean, PC Suite doesn't works
and got to do a repair

[warning: strictly OT, more registry talk ahead]

If that's the case, it sounds like one of those cleaners is deleting a
valid registry entry (or two or twenty...). Ccleaner can be pretty
aggressive that way. If you're not adding & removing proggies from your
system frequently, you could forgo ccleaner's registry cleaning option
altogether.

If you do add/remove proggies regularly and want to make sure that
nothing is left behind (including in the registry), try using Revo
Uninstaller instead. I've found it to be as thorough as, if not more
than, Ccleaner in removing leftovers from an uninstall. But it's a lot
easier to track what it's doing.

And finally, adding/removing proggies increases the registry file's
fragmentation. An excellent registry defragmenter is ntregopt:
stupid-simple to use, very stable. Fwiw, I've no connection to either
(free) product mentioned other than being a happy sys admin.

Hth,
-Craig
