Default N95 wlan connection to NETGEAR WGR614v7, adding the N95 to the router's allow list

I have a successful wlan connection between the phone and the router. I am
trying to tighten security by only allowing certain machines to connect.
The router obtains the mac address but the device name is missing. I have
been unable to successfully change this field. I have checked in
Menu>Tools>Home media>Settings>Device Name but this is not the correct
setting as the device name as shown by the router continues to be either
UNKNOWN or -- depending where you look.

Any help gratefully received.
Regards
Ian

the name you are changing there is the name the n95 will appear as for
sharing content, it's not the wireless device name.
it appears that the n95 does not broadcast a name when it connects to
a wireless router.
if you are restricting access on your router based on mac address then
the name should be irrelevant anyway, the mac address must match. I'd
advise giving it any name you wish though it could be your router
requires both name & mac to match...

Thank you for your answer, unfortunatley my router does insist on a name,
and the name as well as the mac address must match. I will email nokia and
see what they suggest. But thanks for the reply
