Nokia 1600 with USIM card

Hi,

I have a problem with my Nokia 1600; it sometimes says, out of the blue, "SIM
card rejected". The provider's help desk says it's because I use an USIM card
and because this phone doesn't support UMTS, it can cause incompatibilities.
But, I would say that if an USIM card doesn't work on this phone, it should
never work.

Can anybody shed any light on this?

Check the SIM card holder and the contacts. Clean the contact surface, both
on SIM card and the small pins on the phone. We had the same problem, and a
slight tightening of the SIM contact pins helped. Be careful.

This was indeed one of my hypotheses as well. I'll try it and hope for the
best. They already sent me a non-UMTS SIM card, which will arrive next week,
but I'd rather keep this one. I hope this one doesn't get deactivated.
