Whenever I want to take a backup of phone data on my pc, I get an error
message at the end of the transfer session, and it says - "Failed to
copy the following data -
contacts-
C:\system\Data\Contacts.cdb ."
Everything else (including images, sound clippings, messages etc were
stored and could be recovered later, when needed) What does this error
message mean? Is there a part of data that hasn't been stored or is
there another transfer error? I had to format my cell a few days back
and when I tried to transfer the data backup from my pc to the phone, I
found that the whole contact list was empty and I had to build my
contacts list from the scratch!!
I've been using Nokia 6681 since 6 months and have been facing this
problem. How can I ensure that everything is copied to and from my cell
phone?
Please help.

I would guess the C:\system\Data\Contacts.cdb file is badly corrupted, you
could try to rename the file and retrieve the contacts and see if it works.
File corruption is a common thing on VFAT and NTFS file systems, specially on
the first one.

I missed this detail first pass. Is the filename shown exactly as you wrote
above and this is on the 'phone? If so then the space after the .cdb . then
the last period is what's screwing things up. If you can rename the file to
erase the " ." at the end then you may be able to copy off the file.

Have you tried Oxygen Phone Manager II for Symbian OS phones ( http://www.opm-2.com/symbian/ )? With our software you can easily read your
phonebook and save its backup on a safe place on your disk.
