Make sure that the phone is properly connected to the PC via USB.
Next, make sure that the Nokia PC Suite can see your phone as
connected. This is indicated at the bottom of the PC Suite window.
If not, check the connection mode on your phone. There are 3 possible
choices for the NSeries. Set it to PC Suite.
It has happened to me sometimes that even though the phone is
connected physically via a USB cable, PC Suite does not see my phone.
This is also a good thing since you need to backup your phone contents
anyway before updating the phone software.
Just a word of caution, You cannot restore to a previous phone
version! I learned this the hard way. But, it may depend on your type
of phone.
