Sod's Law Strikes - Newer update for N95 appears!
I spent an hour or so on Friday evening messing around with my Nokia
N95. Backed up the date, updated the firmware from v11 to v12.0.013.
Only to read today that an even newer update (v20.0.015) has
appeared...
http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/12...ftware_update/
So it looks like I'll be updating again soon, and quite what happened
to versions 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19, I guess we'll never know!

This isn't unusual, you will probably find that they don't release every
version publicly due to bugs. Once they are ironed out that is probably
when they release a version.

Well I downloaded the linked file, installed it, set it running and it
checked my N95 and told me that the version I already had was the
latest software for my phone. So I am not sure what the article was
about really. What is this mythical new software for the N95 that
promises so much?

That link doesn't seem to be available any longer. Whatever it was
about, the new version of firmware for the N95 is certainly not
mythical. I've just updated my phone to the new version 20.0.015
By the way, a new version of Nokia PC Suite has also been released in
the last few days. Version 6.85 is now available for download.

Apparently its T-Mobile's fault, in the UK. Yes there is a v20
firmware, but it isn't available for T-Mobile registered N95s in the
UK.
T-Mobile have been contacted and asked when it will be available, but
they seem to be extremely slow in comparison to other networks, and
claim that the delay is because they have to conduct extensive
compatibility tests. I believe this is b******s, and what they are
really checking for is that the new firmware won't relinquish any
control over any revenue streams, like unintentionally opening up VOIP
access.
I'll just have to be patient and wait.

Is that a reliable supply point?
I've always taken my updates from Nokia.

If you follow the link it is to a "Register" article about the update,
which itself contains a link (supposedly) to the update at Nokia
Europe.
