Default Nokia software crashes computers. DON'T USE.

After uninstalling a two year old version of Nokia's PC Suit from an XP
machine, I used Nokia's "cleanup" utility (which, if Nokia had coded
their PC Suite software properly, would not have been needed in the
first place) to remove an older version of PC Suite. It did not. It
still left a folder (that could not be removed) in the "My computer" place.

I then tried to install the latest version of Nokia's PC Suite. It
stopped in the middle with a useless error message saying "installation
failed"! No explanation why (let alone that it should not have failed).

STAY AWAY FROM NOKIA PRODUCTS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Well, in Nokia's defence, they're not the only people whose software
leaves folders behind. The biggest culprit is Microsoft :-)

Personally, I use the latest version of PC Suite on an XP Pro machine
without any problems, although others have reported glitches too.

And I thought that honour went to Norton Security Suite :-) I used to run
it and whenever something went wrong with it (which was often) I'd have to
go through my PC deleting every Norton file and folder I could find before
reinstalling it.

You could well be right. I'd quite forgotten how bad it was ... and why
I don't use it anymore :-)

I used to have a copy of Norton Utilities on my Win98 box back in the day.
While it was a faultless piece of software when it worked, whem it
crashed, it took your PC with it - and you couldn't even get into
safe-mode so the only option was a format/re-install!!

Thank goodness for XP/Vista System Restore!!
