Default charging phone?

OK, when I got my Nokia back in September, I made a point of letting it
discharge before recharging it- as I thought that was necessary- but is it
always necessary? Most people don't do this with their home cordless phones-
they just leave them on the charger when not in use.

Good question!

I don't think that it is necessary nowadays, (not as much as it would have
been, say 5-10yrs ago). Though I think it's still a good idea to do it now
and again, say once a month just to keep the battery in good condition,
especially if you do charge before the battery is less than 1/3 drained.

Hope this helps.

This was necessary back when Ni-Cad batteries were the norm. It was
very easy to develop a memory in a Ni-Cad by not cycling the charge.

Today's batteries do not have this problem any more. It is recommended
to cycle the charge for the first couple of times, it also doesn't hurt
to do it occasionally either.

If done too often the battery is likley to melt or explode
