6265i and Internet Access

My phone uses the "Internet Connection" (and not GPRS) to connect to
the Internet. My carrier (US Cellular) says they don't support WAP or
GPRS or EDGE, but rather CDMA RTT 1x.

On my phone, I can use Opera Mini just fine - but not one other
program works (!). I've tried many RSS readers (including Freerange)
and numerous email programs (including VersaMail and MobiMail) with
zero success.

What is going on? This is quite frustrating - especially as Opera
Mini works beautifully through and through - as does the carrier-
provided "EasyEdge" software.

The other software packages all trigger a "Permit Network Access?"
dialog, but no Internet is forthcoming.
