Default Sprint Credit Rating Cut to Junk

And I so wanted to go back to Sprint from AT&T.

Sprint Credit Rating Cut to Junk at Standard & Poor's

May 1 (Bloomberg) -- Sprint Nextel Corp., the U.S. wireless company
that lost more than a million contract customers last year, had its
credit rating cut to junk by Standard & Poor's.

The carrier's corporate credit and senior unsecured debt ratings were
lowered two levels to BB from BBB- because of its deteriorating
operating performance, S&P said today in a statement.

There's apparently a deal in the works between Sprint, Comcast, Intel,
Google, and Clearwire, to revive the whole WiMax thing.

Perhaps Sprint will be acquired by one of these companies as part of
this deal.

Goes to show, the more times you run over a dead cat in

The rumor of the day is that T-Mobile is contemplating acquiring Sprint.

Not a rumor - report in today's (05/05/08) Wall Street Journal that
T-Mobile's parent company is looking to acquire Sprint.

Here's a link to the online version of the story:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1209...l?mod=djemTECH

Actually I can see some benefits for T-Mobile - for one, a decent data
network (their present data network is a BAD joke).

But today they announced they're rolling out a 3G network,
beginning in NYC.

When the CEO has to beg in TV ads, the downward spiral has commenced.

I wonder if Lee Iacocca, Jack Welch, Frank Perdue, Jim Perdue, Dave
Thomas, Jeff Bezos, Jay Bush, Bill Gates, Roger Enrico, Lou Gerstner, or
Michael Eisner, among others, would agree with you... :-)
