well mr jeremy, once again you struck out...I ported my number back to
Alltel, talked to Sprint, they already made a notation on my account that
I was given misinformation about roaming, and said, without arguing mind
you, that there would be no early termination on my account, that they
were sorry they could not provide the service I requested and was
accustomed to, they I should feel free to use their service in the future
if I felt the need.
So I guess my topic was written wrong, I didn't dump Sprint, we mutually
agreed that they were not able to provide the service in my area that
other carriers can.
So I gained on two fronts here, I don't have to listen to you whine, and
Sprint agreed with my assessment. Btw for your information I have another
business account with Sprint with 4 phones and in the area they operate
Sprint has lived up to their agreement. So I might just peak in here now
and then to see if your on your diet, kept your sugar down, found a
partner, and took your medication. love you, bye...

Default getting ready to dump sprint

If this is what happened, that would be reason enough for me to leave
Sprint......removing complaint notes from a customer's account is
disingenous at best.

That seems to be the Sprint way of doing business. Customre calls
with a complaint right after signing up, and they stall until the 15
days are over, and then won't cancel without the ETF, even though a
complaint was registered.

I'm not just going from jjim's experience. A few years ago, I signed
up for Sprint. Got the phone home, no PCS reception, but I could
roam. Complained, and was told that Sprint had just entered the area
(they had) and that a tower would be coming online "any day now" A
week later still no PCS reception, I probably should have cancelled
right then and there, but I believed them, and before I knew it (my
fault, should have kept a better eye on things) a couple of weeks had
gone by, no tower, and can't cancel. After about a half dozen calls
to Sprint, all I wanted was, if their promised tower wasn't going
online, to get free roaming until their tower went online, as I was
paying for non-roaming PCS service and didn't get it, but was racking
up roaming charges. Long story short, they erased the roaming
charges from that day back, but wouldn't do anything about future
calling. They also wouldn't cancel my contract for non-service, as
they claimed I was getting service, albeit roaming. So their idea of
service and mine differed, I was paying for PCS but getting the
priveledge of using their network to roam and rack up charges. I
paid the ETF as it was less than the charges I racked up in roaming
from my own house. Went to Verizon and haven't looked back (well,
actually, I have looked back, my Verizon contract is almost up, so I'm
reading the Sprint newsgroup to see what the waters are like these
days. It looks like not much has changed, and the service surveys are
on the mark. I think I'll stay with Verizon.)

Paul

PS It was a full year before that tower came online.

I know some of these guys are hassling me Paul, but those are similar
facts. Let me explain it again, I moved one line to Sprint, I took their
199.00 unlimited plan and added unlimited texts. The next morning about 8
hrs after I had the phone I noticed it was roaming, I was three miles from
my house which is almost in downtown Muskegon MI, I asked 5 times that day
and some said I had free roaming some said no, I then demanded I know for
sure or I would cancel with no big deal. They then got a supervisor who
said he called the retail store and verified what I said, he was removing
the roaming charges and put notes in my account so I would never get
charged. That was October. No charges in Nov, Dec,first of Jan, then out
of nowhere when I went online roaming usage appeared, but looking at
details of my account online it said no roaming charges, I called, talked
to two supervisors, they said we can see you called but nothing in here
about future charges, basically tough luck, then I talked to corporate, he
said sorry but I will give you a one year discount and you can add roam
mins, but he didnt say he was changing my contract beginning that day to
start over, plus when I went back online, the free roaming description,
disappeared from the site. I also had brought two phones from the Nextel
side on a different account to Sprint, they too said free roaming, and
then in the second bill roaming appeared. Yes I went back to Alltel,
reconfigured my plans and now I will save 97.00 a month, have free roaming
throughout the U.S. and straightforward answers. I do appreciate that
Sprint did not give me a hardtime over the cancellation fee, however I do
not believe that had a choice either. I don't promote Verizon, but after
reading your post, I would not move either.

If you have no reason to switch to Sprint then stay with Verizon. Like I
have mentioned in other message that I switched to Sprint from Verizon
because a family member has few Sprint friends so she asked me to switch to
Sprint so she can talk with them in day time.

Else I was happy with Verizon customer service, and I was able to switch
plan without having to renew the contract like I have with Sprint. Sprint,
probably because I have 5 phones so I had so many billing errors, few took
over a year with extra charge to be able to cancel all services we didn't
want, it took few months to cancel the insurance then it got switched to
another phone and took 2-3 more months to cancel it, then the Sprint Vision
added to one phone by some error or whatever.

Rebate, they had my contract renewed but said they didn't get my rebate or
they had no record, luckily I still had the receipt so I had the local
manager faxed to them. It supposed to be $100 but they only sent me $50,
and I had to call the rebate central and went through all trouble to get
another $50

Verizon, I got instant rebate instead of mail-in rebate, and I didn't have
to renew my contract when I switched plan. Well, other than all the billing
and rebate errors, contract renew when switched plan etc.. everything else
is fine.
