Default changed carriers - now can't cancel account

catch 22 - trying to cancel an account

Changed carriers, and moved my cell phone number.

Now - I would like to call & cancel the account.
From the wireline, called 1-888-211-4727
and the IVR wants the 10-digit phone number.
Of course, the phone number is no longer on SprintPCS,
so the call is rejected....
GRRRRRR
guess I'll have to physically go to a Sprint store ?,
or mail a letter of account cancellation
or is the account auto-cancelled when moved ?

Porting your number to a new carrier automatically closes the old account.

Porting automatically cancels the account.

The account's already closed.

Yes, regardless of who you port from or to.

You can always avoid the IVR. It's real easy. Just tell it Customer
Service as soon as Computer Lady starts talking. Then say it again
when she asks if she can help instead. You'll be forwarded straight
into the CS queue and talk to a real person. I've done this for many
years with Sprint and it's worked EVERY time.

As others have mentioned, your account should be close. However, if
you would like to talk to them at CS and verify, my trick will get you
through every time.
