Internet Card

I have sprint service on Tevo 650 with vision unlimited service. I can use
the phone as a modem to access the internet using usb cable to my laptop.
Ok but slow. Can I buy a wireless card for my laptop and use it on my
existing service contract? Are wireless cards assigned a phone number?? I
don't want a new service plan just want convienence of using my laptop with
a card. Thanks Bill

Yes, aircards have their own number, and if you are using your treo650 as a
modem you should be paying for that service too!

I believe the way it works is ,,,,,,,,,, Right now your using your treo
as your phone and when cabled to your laptop your using your treo as a
modem. That is on the same device (same "ESN" number, same phone
number)!!!!!!! If you want to use an aircard (different device,
diff' "ESN") ,,,it needs a phone number of it's own. Think of it like
wanting to use two phones ,,,,,you can use both phones!!!!!! just not
at the same time....You must call your service provider (sprint) and
give them the "ESN" of the device that you want assigned to a number.
When you use a device the sprints system will only allow service to
that device assigned to it's number. I don't know if you want or sprint
will allow, you to call customer service and switch back and forth
between two "ESN's" when ever you want to switch. I could be wrong on
one or both. Hope this helps...#9..IMHO

Hay "BC"!!?? I have sprint for phone but have been shy to try the "treo
to pc "way. One can never know what the speed will be before you spend
$$$... Just how slow is the conncetion when you use your treo as a
modem ????? I'm assuming e-mail is not slow for you ( is it?) Is it
slow when you try to view video? If you could give a comment on what
usage is ok( not slow) and which usage is not (to slow). I believe
that any provider can say that the speed is 9 zillion bps but if you
only get transfer @ .001 per/sec., you got shit. What do you get
effectively ( actual results ) ????? Sailingsoul

Switching back and forth between the two is either impossible or
horribly expensive and inconvenient. One thing to check is whether you
are in a Power Vision area. If you are not, then getting a connection
card will not improve your phone-as-modem speed. The only advantage
would be that you could use your Treo while connected to the internet.
You can check this coverage at sprint.com then clicking on the
Coverage tab and entering your zip code.

card and phone (TREO). I don't know about that but I've switched
between two phones (sprint NOKIA'S). I had one, then bought a back up
($10) and wanted to test it out in case it had a prob'. So I just
called CS, programed my new one and gave my ESN . My first now could
not make calls, even though it was programed and the new one worked.
After 2 weeks, I knew it was OK. I called CS and just gave them the ESN
of my first. The first now works and the second (new) one doesn't. *No
charge, Not impossible, *yes *inconvenient*. Now, both are set up to
work with my phone # , both can call CS (*2), only one can make
calls. If I call CS now and tell them I want to use my spare , I give
then the ESN , they put it into the system and it works. Just
telling what I know for who it helps. Peace. SS

True true. yes it is possible, though way more inconvenient than just
switching a sim card.

A Sprint has three different speeds available for using your phone-as-
modem. RX1 (Regular Vision) is about a 108k connection. This is what
is available in most areas. EVDO (Power Vision) is about 300-500k
connection. This is available in most major metro areas. Revision A is
even faster than EVDO but is only available in some very limited areas
now.
