Default Sprint have best data plan bar none?

I'm thinking of switching cell carriers and upgrading
to smart phone that has email and Internet access

It "appears" to me that for $15/month I can get
unlimited data through spint whereas other carriers
typically want $40/month for that.

Is this correct? Am I reading their info correct?

Does Sprint have best data plan bar none so far?

I have a Motorla Q from Sprint and I pay $10 a month for unlimited
data. Can't beat it.

Sort of- the $15 is for data access on the phone only, (and only in
addition to a voice plan, of course.) Some other carriers allow the
phone to also be used as a wireless modem for your laptop as well-
something that Sprint charge extra for.

Probably- the $15 plan is a good deal considering that Sprint uses high-
speed EVDO (3G.)

I use T-Mobile, myself, who offers unlimited phone-only data for $6/month
(again, only with a voice plan,) but their speed is much slower than
Sprint's- only 150kbps or so, but I find that to be good enough for e-
mail and mobile web browsing.

Ok well I wasn't thinking abt "tethering" the smart
phone to a laptop and using as a "modem" anyway.. but
that's a good point!

How's the speed?

And.... how you like the Q?

The speed is decent. I get around 300 - 400 kbps download. I think
others get faster, but maybe because at home I don't get a strong
signal??

But I do like the Q a lot. I think you will find you will need to buy
a couple 3rd party applications to really make it powerful, but that's
OK with me. I have all my contacts on there (it syncs with Outlook), I
can't live without my calendar reminders now and being able to get on
the web anywhere is great. I would recommend it.

The battery isn't the best, which some might say is being kind. Since
I don't use bluetooth and am not on the web all the time, it isn't a
problem for me, but a lot of people have had to buy an extended
battery. Just something to be aware about.

David

How is it possible to pay $10.00 for sprint's data plan when the data plan runs $15.00? Just curious. I use the data plan myself and am very happy with it. I also ahve added texting to my plan and thoroughly enjoy it!
Enjoy getting something for free?

A grandfathered plan, I suspect. IIRC, Sprint's "Vision" plan was $10 at
one time. I assume the previous poster has had it so long he's still on
the old $10 plan.

It used to be $15 if you wanted the bonus downloads, $10 if you wanted to
pay for downloads a la carte. The extra $5 actually got you $10 in downloads,
so if you're the type of person who likes to buy ringtones and apps, you can
come out ahead that way. With the $10/month plan you pay for every download;
nothing for free.
