I used to get good coverage at our other campus because the cell tower
was right there in the middle of the campus. But to build our new bldg,
the cell tower had to go, and they put in a temporary tower on a
trailer. So now the coverage is poor and some places it says no
service. Oh, well.. Maybe after the bldg gets built, the temp tower
will be replaced, but that's a year or more away. I think the temporary
tower is Verizon, but T-mobile seems to get service from other providers
in areas where they don't have their own tower.
Last week I got a letter from T-mo offering a free Moto V-195 flip phone
if I sign up. But they want another two year contract to get it. I had
a Moto flip phone back in '98 and '99, and I liked it (I didn't have any
choice since my employer was paying for it). I'd like to get another,
but I don't want to commit to two more years (I'm now paying the bill,
but I get reimbursed, and my employer may discontinue that soon). I
talked to one of the T-mo store guys and told him I don't need any of
the extras such as camera, text and GPS. He said to buy a Nokia 6101.
I wonder what these phones cost if I have to actually buy them (every
phone I've had has been free when I signed up). Anyone know? I might
even consider the Samsung (below).
