Default ques about using newer SIM

I've got an original Omnipoint SIM in my phone
which generally works fine, but is limited to a
modest number of phone number entries.

because of this, each time I store a new one it's
going into the phone memory rather than the SIM.

No great problem there, but I'd rather have them
all on that card so I could swap everything back
and forth into other phones (and also back it
up more easily).

So.. just to double check: If I get a newer SIM it'll
be able to hold many more names/phone numbers. Right?

Related question: how do I do this? will t-mobile
simply hand me a new one at a store (presumably
for some dollars, I'd guess)? And... would they
be set up to transfer the entries in the old
SIM to the new one?

Thanks

The last I knew, they would gladly sell you a SIM for $20 and transfer your
phone's account to it.

Check with them to see what the capacity is on the new SIM. I believe it's
considerably larger than the original (Omnipoint or Voicestream) SIMs.

As for your own phonebook entries, I believe that would be up to you, and
would probably involve copying them all to your phone, inserting the new SIM
when activated, and then copying the back from the phone to the SIM.
