I am considering upgrading my Samsung low end for a new one. What is the
best phone in terms of quality not bells and whistles. I want a phone that
has good reception. It doesn't need a camera etc. All I do is make phone
calls. I have had this phone for almost 3 years and it is time to upgrade.
I loved my old nokia bar style phone. Oh well.
Thanks.

No frills, no bells and whistles, I like my Samsung T-209. With just 1
bar on the signal meter (we're out on the edge of their coverage) calls
sounds as good as a landline.

I just got my wife the Nokia 6133 for an xmas gift. I switched her out from a
RAZR. Excellent phone - yes it has bells and whistles but it's *also* a very
good phone in terms of reception, call sound quality, etc.

I love my PEBL. It's the first Motorola handset I've ever wanted to
*keep* after buying it (it's the third I've owned.) And it's free with
new activation on the T-Mo website. :) You should see if you can get a
deal on a PEBL with a contract renewal.

Hey.. I'll listen to a fellow JavaGeek any day.. ;)
And yea the PEBL is a pretty neat little phone. I've just never used it so I
couldn't really attest to it.

Motorola v195. It's a flip-phone and pretty basic for today's standards. It
does have Bluetooth but you can turn that off. Exceptional battery life!

I just got one of the new Nokia 5300's. Great phone so far, though the
battery life isn't great with Bluetooth turned on and the MP3 player going.
I left all of those off for a while, though, and went three days without
recharging.
