Non touchscreen PDAs and web image zooming?

With devices such as the Blackberry and Windows Mobile smartphone edition
not being touchscreen devices, how does one zoom into an image on a web
page, or is that impossible? Two examples are google maps and weather
radar, where you can zoom closer into a location. In the case of weather
radar, it would be zooming into a GIF image.
