TGDaily has it from "industry sources" that the 3G iPhone will indeed
be debuted at WWDC and will be offered in 8GB ($399), 16GB ($499) and
possibly a monster 32GB ($599) variant. The launch of 8GB and 16GB 3G
iPhones is quite solid, however, the 32GB 3G iPhone is an unconfirmed
rumor.

The new iPhone will be even thinner and faster with a new black higher
end deluxe case.

Whew! I only paid $59 for 16G SD cards for the "monster 32GB" Nokia N800
Linux tablet. I can even SWAP them with the old 8GB cards to get more
stuff to play!

$600 is WAY HIGH!

That fat clunker doesn't slip into your pocket like the iPhone does. I
know for a fact in a recent test monitored by video cameras that a
candidate was able to secrete an iPhone in his one hand and refer to
it unseen by the monitors. I understand he turned the back light down
so it would not be so obvious. Once used to it you can type one handed
on the iPhone holding it and typing at the same time.Try that with
that fat Nokia tablet.

The new iPhone will be even thinner more like the iPod Touch, almost
like a credit card. It definitely will drop into a man's shirt pocket.
You can turn the phone upside down so the speaker is facing up towards
your face and listen to the BBC or NPR or 158 other unique radio
channels using the iPod website flytunes. It is like having a Sirius
or XM radio in your pocket at all times without having to pay a
subscription fee.. Kill the screen since you do not need to look at it
while doing this and you can listen for hours without killing the
battery.

Can you do that with the Nokia where the battery dies almost as fast
as an ice cube in a pizza oven? To match the iPhone you have to tote
all kinds of extra stuff like batteries, SD cards, a real cellphone
etc. which adds to the already cumbersome Nokia mess.

The Nokia product you tout reminds me of a red neck with a real room
window air conditioner duct tapped to an old Chevy pulling a U Haul
with a generator to power it who is stuck in traffic while an
executive in an iPhone like beamer whizzes past in cool comfort.

That is the iPhone experience right now even before 3G and a 5 mega
pixel camera. The Nokia Internet tablet does have a camera doesn't it?

If it was any good compared to the iPhone Nokia would not be racing to
market with the poor Nokia iPhone clone called the 'Tube'. I see Nokia
is including a stylus for it since it doesn't have Apple's multi touch
interface, but then you don't have that in the Nokia tablet either do
you Larry?

And you have to use another phone to make a call, Is that cool or something
Larry, By the way why are you using the old Nokia instead of the 810 are you
slipping.

You don't have a stylus because you don't have a touchscreen on the toy.

The stylus is because fingers are too fat to have resolution.

Case in point is Xournal:

(This video also shows you how really simple it is to install a new app
to the tablets from our Maemo repository. Notice the lack of typing
credit card numbers to get great software.)

Someone will call or message me to ask about a circuit. I boot Xournal
(that means I start running a program I've DOWNLOADED for free into the
fat, clunky Linux tablet's massive memory and the tablet runs it without
telling me I'm not allowed to run external software without hacking it).

I draw the schematic on the Xournal ruled paper just as if I had a paper
tablet and a pencil....but, no, I'm using that awful stylus that Nokia
conveniently included with its high-resolution touchscreen. The
schematic and any notes I'd care to add to the nearly unlimited pages of
this real notepad are just as sloppy as the ones I draw on paper...(c;

I then tell Xournal to convert my drawing to whatever format the person
can read, say a .pdf file to display and print on his Acrobat. Then, I
can either email it to him, if he's not connected to me on Skype, or
send it directly to him as a Skype file transfer, instantly.

I can even import a scan he's made of his equipment schematic, make
notes on it and point out circuit changes, then, send it back to him
with my notes and drawings on it.

Xournal is so cool, when you use the highlighter, you can even see the
ink dry just like a real highlighter....silly Linux hackers....(c;

I can't do that on Iphone because:
1 - I won't run a great program like Xournal.
2 - It doesn't have the capability to use high resolution pointing with
only its capacitive input.
3 - It won't create or read .pdf files because Jobs can make Adobe kiss
his corporate ass.

This is just one of but thousands of examples of things the clunky old
N800 under Maemo OS2008 does the iPhone webtv iPod will never do. It's
also a good example of a business application that is very handy for
anyone dealing with drawing things like building plans,
electronic/electrical schematics, any kind of blueprints. Its potential
to send drawing changes to someone in the field, instantly, over any
distance, has yet to be fully realized.

Give it up! The reason they're bringing back their iPhones is BATTERY
LIFE! You sound like a Christian ignoring the dinosaurs telling
everyone the Earth is only 6000 years old. Lit up to full brightness,
the tablet only runs about 4 hours. Turn off the display playing music,
it runs over a day. It runs 4 times as long as my laptop. The extra
battery is a standard Nokia BP-5L I bought for $18 on the net. It takes
15 seconds to change....but, at least I can change it! Oh, those
cumbersome SD cards. I have a wagon I pull with two 8GB cards full of
music and movies so I don't get bored. How many DivX movies can your
biggest Iphone store and run? Is it.....er, ah.....NONE?

Well...gotta go. I'm taking the clunky N800 with its clunky GPS pillbox
that stays in my car using Wayfinder to get me to a new customer's
church in the boondocks by the shortest route:

They say Wayfinder is available for Win Mobile and smartphones, but, of
course, not iPhones....no GPS....to keep it shirt pocket fitable, I
suppose....go figure.

Yep, Motorola Z6m on Alltel is my "modem"...(c; $25/mo unlimited EVDO.

Nokia provided the OS2008 Linux upgrade for free to all N800 tablet
owners (they are the same chipset, just added the slide keyboard and put
the GPS chips inside it.)

Unfortunately, in order to compact things, they had to move a few things
around and change them on the N810. It uses microSD cards, which don't
come in 16GB for $59, so you pay a large memory hit. They moved the
front-mounted larger stereo speakers that point at you on the N800
around to the side on the N810, which was a mistake for me. I like my
upfront sound as I'm a multimedia addict.

Upgrading to the N810's OS did make a lot of big changes to the N800,
though. Bluetooth headsets are now supported, the USB port can be
changed to make it a computer port, not a peripheral port, with a little
gender changer plugin so I can plug in printers and stuff. New codecs
the N800 wouldn't play, now play fine, like all those Windows codecs and
streams.

The slideout keyboard still isn't a typing machine. I have the Nokia
folding Bluetooth keyboard for the N800 which is a much better solution
for a touch typist like myself. My fingers won't fit on an N810
keyboard. I already had the BT keyboard for the N800 because I use
rdesktop back to my main desktop WinXP box on remote control.

About the separate phone, I don't HAVE to carry the tablet to use the
sellphone this way. On my motorcycle, for instance, I don the Motorola
S9 stereo headset paired with the MotoROKR Z6m full of music and I'm
ready to cruise...without the tablet, if I desire. That works much
better for me. I can even load the phone's 2GB memory card over
Bluetooth from the tablets 32GB storage using the tablet's File Manager,
which has remote access to the internal and external memory in the
phone! Moving files around between them is easy over the BT link.
