Default For whiners about Apple's iPhone battery

For anti-Apple droids here who claim the battery life in an iPhone is
too short for them and thats their deal breaker or should be yours.

Just buy a $27 external battery back. More than one if you need?

Why should I?

Apple had the knowledge to do it right after their first screw-up - ADD A
DAMN BATTERY COMPARTMENT!

But no. You need to send the toy in.

Opps! Did I say "toy?" - as in it's life expectancy is only one year
anyhoo. There will be another on the horizon in another year.

Guess it doesn't make any sense to add a "user-serviceable battery" in the
toy after all.

B~

I've had mine for over a year and it's still going strong. LiIons have a
longer life than a year. The one in my laptop is going on 3 years and
it's fine too.

You actually haven't read the posts about the battery issue or you wouldn't
have posted this. This has been addressed. I suggest you go back and read
them and then try not to feel embarrassed.

How long the batteries LIVE is not the issue. You've participated in the
posts about the battery so I don't get you on this. How long they last in a
DAY is the issue.

You got it wrong friend. I've participated in some other conversations
here, but nothing about batteries. I might have commented in longer
threads that discussed batteries, but my comments haven't been specific
to batteries until now.

And my comment here was directly related to the claim B. Peg made about
"it's life expectancy is only one year anyhoo." Granted he was talking
about the phone itself, but the overall thread was about it lacking a
battery compartment. I'm just saying that if the phone still works after
a year, and you don't need the "latest and greatest model" and the
battery still works as good as when you got it, what's the big deal
about having a replaceable battery?

I suppose all of you replaceable battery advocates drive around in cars
with replaceable gas tanks too? No you don't. You just fill them up when
you need to. Same thing applies here.

As for how long it lasts in a DAY: Personally, I've had my gen 1 iPhone
play a movie and several lengthy podcasts on a Phoenix to Philly
airplane flight. I've sat in a Phoenix courthouse from 9:00 am to 4:30
pm on jury duty (waiting, didn't get picked) and the phone lasted the
whole day e-mailing friends and listening to podcasts. I was
hospitalized in March for a week (Thursday to Thursday). Used the phone
to send text messages to friends and relatives on my progress. Listened
to a few podcasts, and took several calls. Charged it only once on the
Wednesday before coming home.

No, the battery charge doesn't last forever, but it lasts longer than
the BlackBerry (with replaceable batteries...) issued to me from my
employer. And it seems to charge much faster as well.

For you N800 guys, Walmart wants too much for a 2nd battery:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=5425100

http://www.pricegrabber.com/user_sal...sterid=8509352
&lot_id=7395788
I bought mine cheap from this guy. They are real OEM batteries, but are
good pullouts for a lot less money. The 3 I got had been in a phone as
you can see the marks on the contacts, but the batteries are in fine
condition and one cycle in my charger below brought them back up great.
They even came fully charged, probably from the seller's battery tester.

USPS shipping was about $4 bringing it here for under $20, not $45 at
Wally World.

I play a lot of movies and stream TV from WorldTV99's playlist in
KMplayer/mplayer at high bit rates. This eats the N800 at full display
brightness and loud audio in about 4-5 hours. Just kick out the dead
horse and pop in the new one and we're back online for the rest of the
day...charging the dead horse back up in the drop-in charger in the car
upon arrival.

I also bought 5 of these at $2/each from the UK:
http://tinyurl.com/6mubwd

http://cgi.ebay.com/DESKTOP-BATTERY-...L-E61-N92-9500
_W0QQitemZ120283559161QQihZ002QQcategoryZ20368QQrd Z1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQc
mdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em122

They charge the battery, then when the battery's onboard IC says full,
shut down completely dousing the light to tell you it's charged. Even
on the car cord, they charge the battery back up in about 1.5 hours from
dead.

The spare battery charges from any of my N800 charging cords, AC or DC,
in the car or on my desk while I'm off with the other one. Using these,
and they ARE so cheap, you never have to actually charge the tablet at
all on its tether.

Solutions not excuses....(c;

Okay, so say that the iPhone had a user changeable battery, do you
honestly think you could buy a replacement for $27?

If you were willing to accept a no-name Honk Kong battery, yes. A double
capacity batery for my Tilt (with dedicated charger and "camel hump"
battery cover to accomodate the extra size) cost me $15.

While such a battery will turn my brick of a Tilt into a cinder-block, I
like the high-cap batteries for use while traveling when access to a
charger isn't always convenient. I switch back to the standard battery
when home.
