Gunfire broke out at Hardee's on Ashley Phosphate Road near here,
tonight, but only a few virtual soldiers, tanks and jeeps were destroyed
and no real humans died in the conflagration, although the little old
lady two tables over looked like she could kill me.
Somebody posted the Linux game Barrage on maemo.org's download update
page and I needed a new shootem up bang-bang for amusement, so I
downloaded it.

Noone gave me permission from Nokia, but that's not required like
iPhone.
Unlike the usual laser-speed "guns", these are more based on ballistics
and less on fantasy. You must plan where the target will be, not where
he is, when your shell arrives from your artillery piece. Your ammo and
time for the barrage is limited to 3 minutes, making this a great
replacement game for the Computer Shopper on the back of the toilet...
The game is available for Linux, OSX, BeOS and Zaurus from:
http://lgames.sourceforge.net/index.php?project=Barrage
....and now the Maemo Linux tablets for those lucky enough to be toting
around extra dead weight. The tablet version has a specialized
interface to take advantage of the higher resolution touch screen
targeting by tapping with its obsolete stylus, while wiping out the
enemy in the 3 minutes you've got to 'get 'em'.
Somehow, I don't think the little old lady two tables over appreciated
the gravity....or was it ballistics.....and certainly not the shelling
from the big, front-mounted speakers...(c; I think old "teenagers"
should be given a little more slack, personally. This may come in handy
during the revolution when the dollar finally collapses and gas is
$50/litre, if you can get it.
Don't see any port for jailbroken FruitFones, yet. Probably too violent
for Nanny to let you have it thru the store, even if you had to pay for
it, which, of course, we do not.
The Maemo team says they're working on porting the rest of the Lgames to
the tablet very soon...which would trash productivity during working
hours further, but Numpty Physics has pretty much done that, already....
.....it even works with the Wiimote bluetoothed to mine....(c;
MasterGear - MasterSystem/GameGear Emulator v2.6 has also been ported to
the Linux tablets so drag out your 8-bit Colecovision games for:
Master System, GameGear, SG-1000, Mark2, and Mark3. It will also emulate
SC-3000 home computer and SF-7000 disk drive extension.
I'm not sure how many game emulators this brings us up to. There's no
time to look during the battle...(c; If the little old lady got up and
headed towards me, I was gonna switch to Skynews TV, quickly, and play
innocent, blaming the teens-in-the-hood all carrying smartphones at the
next table.
