And orb is limited to PC - certainly no good reason to buy one.

I looked at DataCase and IMHO it improves the iPhone's usefulness many
fold. A salesman for instance can carry a lot of data with the iPhone
now instead of using all that memory for mp3s.

Why lug a laptop if you don't really need it? It is a pity Vz doesn’t
have anything like the iPhone but I think this is finally a good
reason to dump old Verizon and go with AT&T.

With all my business and social data and a great easy to use internet
interface the iPhone is irresistible.

I think Apple should include that software as part of their firmware
to the iPhone. It is well written and makes the iPhone easy to use
with Vista and Linux. Data transfer for storage or retrival from the
iPhone is very fast with DataCase.
I wish we could sync with iTunes any where as near as fast!

Only if you want completely shitty coverage. VZW has considerably better
coverage than AT&T.

If he is interested in Internet coverage, AT&T's two networks 3G and
EDGE, with WiFi is probably a better deal using the iPhone. There is
something really neat about having the real internet on an almost
credit card size device in your shirt pocket every where you go. No
more need for a slow booting, battery eatting laptop is also desirable
life changing event when you need to quickly check something.

I had Verizon and it sucked for data use in many areas even close to
Atlanta GA. The Verizon phone didn't have WiFi and when in a marginal
area in metro Atlanta Verizon sucked the phone battery dead as the LG
tried to reach EVDO. I would have switched even if there wasn't an
iPhone. VZW is ok if you are interested only in voice coverage. But he
can do that with a free phone and cheap VZW prepay for the few areas
he may need a VZN phone.

Better to have a battery eating iPhone huh ?

A server? On the phone?

Let me know when you enable anonymous access. We'll all see how much
bandwidth your phone can handle.

should be able to handle quite a bit over normal 802.11n wifi, same as
most any PC over a similar fast connection. the unix os on a pure ram
based system is pretty speedy.
