Default Battery life claims

What are the claims for the Verizon phones you have? The claims are
usually exaggerated, don't compare the battery life you currently get,
with what is claimed for other phones.

Compare otherwise identical phones for GSM and CDMA.

I.e. look at the Motorola KRZR K1 versus the Motorola KRZR K1m and
account for the different battery sizes.

K1 (GSM) 700mAH battery, Talk: 5.83 hours Standby: 300 hours
K1M (CDMA) 850mAH battery, Talk: 4.17 hours Standby: 440 hours

K1 (GSM) normalized for an 850mAH battery, Talk: 7.1 hours, Standby: 364
hours.

One difference here is that the Verizon model has GPS technology, while
Cingular doesn't yet offer this capability, and this does affect the
battery life, and it can't be turned off AFAIK.

This is about right. GSM phones tend to have much longer talk times
because they don't need as much power to transmit, but have slightly
shorter standby times. If you're a big talker each day, then GSM may be
a better choice.

I have both types of phones, and I charge them each night, and I never
would be talking enough hours on either to notice a difference each day.
YMMV.

A-GPS has no significant effect on battery life.
