A phone in the one market that has turned down the iPhone.

A patent application. Where's the phone?

Where are the phones that are supposed to compete with the original? These
hardly qualify.

Yeah- the wide variety of third party apps available for the iPhone
demonstrates it.

The first one is clearly a phone that *is* "borrowing" from the iPhone, the
second shows at least likely plans. But not hard to find other references
to how *already* folks are looking to take the look and feel of the iPhone:

It is not as though it is a surprise to anyone with any feel for the
industry that people are working to copy Apple ... if not an outright copy
then to outdo Apple in their focus on the UI. Apple has made UI an issue
for the cell phone market - and that *will* change the industry.

I do not know how many apps exist for other cell phones, but looking for
iPhone apps - a new face in the arena - I can easily find hundreds:

<http://www.apple.com/webapps/index_abc.html>

(454 listed there as of right now... )

And keep in mind that is *before* the third party "native" tools have been
released - though those should be out fairly soon.

What other phone has that many apps? I really do not know... and I bet you
don't either. :)

But, to date, no copycats exist- only vaporware. When the Razr was
released, there were copycat phones on the market the next month. The
iPhone obviously does not command that level of fear or respect.

The bigger question is how many other phones come with many of those
apps as native to the phone?

Funny how you think the phones people show they *have* via YouTube videos
are merely "vaporware". Do you know what the term means?

You can ask your questions later... the question on the table is how many
other phones have close to 500 apps that *you* can point to. Available now.

We can check, if we want, to see how many of those are open source. :)

Provide me with a link to a phone I can purchase that is a copycat of
the iPhone.

Other phones don't require that many- they are native to the phone.

While that might serve as an interesting diversion, let us first acknowledge
that your use of the term "vaporware" was incorrect, being that at least
some of the very products you called "vaporware" clearly *are* in the hands
of users.

Another interesting change of topic from you - but clearly you cannot find a
phone with close to 500 apps. The iPhone, at least based on the information
you and I have provided, has *more* apps than any other phone... and that is
*before* it has been opened. That is damned impressive, eh?

No- product not for sale. Vaporware.

Actually, it's not impressive at all. What you are touting is akin to
buying a really nice looking car, and then having to install the
mirrors, locks, radio, speedomoeter and various other parts of the car
that are standard with every other car on the market. Then, once you
get it home, you realize that they forgot to tell you that the engine
has a governor on it.

You're being an idiot (again) and I am done with you after this post
(again). On second thought, you're not being an idiot- you are one. I
don't have time to play your little games and try to debate a third
grader. Have a nice life, Snot.

As I noted: I showed you products in people's hands. Did you think they

Well, then, point to *any* other phone with that many apps... not that just
a count of apps shows that the apps are the best. Clearly that is not the
case!

Ah, then show how those nearly 500 apps' tasks are handled by the other
phones!

Gee, does that mean you will not actually name a phone with as many apps or
features as the iPhone. A shame... I thought you were just on the verge of
doing so. LOL!

According to Handango.com, who distributes Both freeware and commercial
phone software, Blackberries have 2,812 titles available, Symbian OS phones
have 9,299, Palm OS has 10,769, and Windows Mobile has 17,407.

Java (J2ME) apps, which run on most lower end "non-OS" phones, number in
the thousands as well-
http://www.getjar.com/software/Java/Generic lists over 1400 "generic" Java
apps that will run on any Java-enabled phone.
