=============
Verizon has skrewed me doubly. I was an original charter member of Ver
DSL in NYC when it started up around 10/99. I got DSL service,
newsgroup access and 5 hours of dial-up; I believe I originally paid
$39.95 for DSL connection and $10.00 more for the Ver ISP. Over the
years, I never needed much help/support but each I time did call, fewer
and fewer Ver personnel knew I was "grandfathered in" and was entitled
to 5 hrs of dialup as well as newsgroup access. Now, they deny I am
entitled to 5 hrs dial up, (altho I never used 1 hr). I paid for it--I
should get it or a rebate. Public service commission said I should
sue when Ver took hard nosed stance. [issue also of DSL speed]
Verizon cell service is same story. I started on family plan w 2 lines
orignally for $X.XX (I forget monthly rate). My plan stated I could add
additional lines at $9.99 each at any time, keeping basic monthly family
rate. So, when I tried years later to add one more line, Ver wouldn't
do it, saying this is a change in plans, and everything goes out the
window and you start fresh. Public service commission no help.
Now, as far as I recall, Veriz never gave me any written documentation
of anything (DSL or cell plan). Yes, hard to believe. In any event, it
is curious Ver never provided hard copies of anything to me or the
Public service commission to disprove my claim.
On another issue: Against my better judgment, I tried to get Veriz DSL
support, and was not only treated very rudely by 3 techies, they
outright got insulting and hung up on me. There are apparently 2 things
geeks won't tolerate: being insulted, or being a non-geek newbie (I am
a Windoze person and wanted help on setting up a Mac with no knowledge
whatsoever about Mac--it's my daughters Mac; they insulted me for
knowing nada about Mac and hung up.)
But as was said, Veriz is only DSL game in town for me. I cannot have
other wires, cables running into my apt. I have long sold my Veriz
stock. Veriz not only suks, they're arrogant SOBs too.
So, are there others out there in SIMILAR POSITION so we can start class
action lawsuit?
