I had my 815 Off and charging for a few days. This AM I unplugged the
charger and the phone played its tune. The screen was on and the time
was shown. I didn't power On the phone at this time. I put it in the
glove compartment of my car. When I got back home I plugged it into the
charger, but nothing happened. I held the power On button, but the
phone won't come on with or without the charger. My neighbor has the
same phone and my battery shows to be fully charged on his phone, and
his battery will not turn my phone On. The phone has never been
dropped/wet/abused in any way and I've not had any problems with it, so
I'm stumped. Two things to ask: the phone was Off during the time
change, might the time change have had any effect? Second: phone was
in glove compartment of car. This is above the car computer and also
about 2' from the alternator on the other side of the firewall. Could
the EMF scrambled the innards of the phone? Anyone have any ideas why
the phone won't turn On? Thanks for any help!

I don't think so.

Probably not, but who knows.

It's all fun and games until someone starts a bonfire in the living room.
Did you reboot the phone ? Take the battery out and reinsert after 1
min. That allows it to reset. Try another battery and or charger ?

Read it just fine. I've heard this all to many times. My friend works in
a cell store. The owner is a ex Motorola service tech. Chargers that
work don't work with other phones and battery combos. But they work with
other phones. etc. A charger can work just fine. A lot of problems get
fixed with the simple reboot.

The main point of his post was to reboot. Sounded like an excellent
suggestion.

When we exchanged batteries, the bat from my phone was uninstalled for
more than 1 min. I supposed I should have said I know about the
'reboot' sequence. 1 min/10min/30min, makes no difference, it will not
accept the power-On command. Here is how naive I am: Called Vz store
and asked if there was a tech person who could figure out the problem.
Yes there was, so I went to the store. The 'tech' did less than my
neighbor and I did to check the phone. lol For some reason I actually
thought the tech person would know something. Anyway, it was a very
frustrating/normal Vz store experience, and I'm getting a FRU e815 (no
charge). I'm not a fan of anything FRU'ed, so I'm taking my phone to a
real repair place in Austin where it will be checked out. I appreciate
the advice. Thanks!

Probably just the "Power Button".

That was my guess. I'd mash the button and wiggle my finger, trying to get
it to connect electrically.
