Can blackberry pearl 8130 read txt, pdf, html and support chm and/orms-office (doc, xls, ppt)? Java midp support?
Just got this Blackberry for Christmas. Pretty cool phone :) Bought
a 2gig microSD and wanna use up the space, so I can read some document
while riding on the bus. Can I create a folder in the root directory
in microSD then dump all doc files into it? What tool do I need to
open up these common doc format files? Don't have data plan on this
phone and not gonna get it. Beside, the there's no cell connection
down in the subway, which I spend most of travelling time in each
time. Need tool to read offline. Any recommendation for free tools?
Also, can I download tiny Java games (for cell) then save into
microSD. Install in cell? Play game in cell?

It's a very nice phone. I just got one too. Unfortunately I can't answer
most of your questions other than that the mSD card is read and written to
using Desktop Manager's Media Manager. From there, it's a simple drag and
drop or a use of the Move Up/Move Down buttons. It will appear as a CD Drive
in My Computer also, but don't try to use that. It wants to format the drive
first and I suspect that would be a disaster. So, yes, you can put your
documents in a folder on the card. Reading them might be another story. I'm
sure someone has a 3rd party app for that purpose. Check with handango.com.
Meantime, I have a question for you. Do you have the 8130 operating as a
phone or are you just interested in using it as a portable computer? If it
is operating as a phone, how did you accomplish that without purchasing a
data plan?

Sorry, I have no idea.
