i had a e815 and upgraded to a maxx ve. when i moved my micro sd to razr it
locked it up. i then moved files to laptop and formatted the micro sd. i
tried fat and fat32 neither works. the phone just sits in startup mode, the
inside screen has the vzw logo and the outside screen is red. the chip
works in my laptop and old e815.

Erase it but don't format it. Then let the Maxx format the card.

howardforums.com has some info on these phones being picky on the brand
and/or size of the card. You might want to check there, too.
